Finances at UCSD

Hello everyone,
I have been admitted for Fall 2011 at UCSD (Revelle) and I really want to attend but I'm worried about the finances at UCSD. First and foremost I come from Orange County and I could attend UCI and not worry about any finances but UCSD seems like a really great school and I think I will really enjoy it there. I was wondering how much it would cost to attend UCSD and how much FAFSA and scholarships would pay for it. How do I know how much money I am getting for UCSD? My EFC is 0 if that matters. Also, I am confused about the different types of aids that I will be receiving. And if I put "no work study" on my FAFSA application, does that mean I can't work at all? I'm really worried about finances because I can't seem to fathom how I would pay 28k a year to attend UCSD....thank you guys for any input and advice

Go to your admissions page and look for the Preliminary Financial Aid or something along the lines thereof. It shows you an estimate. You can still work off campus, but I’m not sure if you can still do work study; you probably can. I assume you did the whole Cal Grant thing as well?

my daughter is a senior at ucsd. I have paid the efc the whole time. It is 6k/year. You will be fine with about 20k in loans after 4 years. go for it.

whoa is this possible? here is what i got from my financial aid page:

Direct Costs (Fees & Health Insurance) $13,227
Books and Supplies + $1,456
Living Expenses + $13,907
Total UCSD Cost = $28,590

Total Gift Aid $19,190
Options Available to Meet Net Cost $9,400
Total Estimated Aid = $28,590

Pell Grant $5,550
Possible Cal Grant A + $11,124
UCSD Grant + $2,516
Other Outside Aid + $0

Total Gift Aid = $19,190
Total Net Cost = $9,400

Total Student’s Share = $9,100
Federal Work-Study $2,800
Perkins/University Loan + $800
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan + $3,500
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan + $2,000

Total Parent’s Share = $300
Federal Direct PLUS Loan for Parents + $300

Total Options to Meet Net Cost = $9,400
