For the Collegeboard's Certificate of finances sheet, in that column for Projected support, do you HAVE to write down ~30k for each column, and show that you have, 30k x4=120,000 = $120,000 in your bank certificate?
(that is, if you're not applying for finaid)

Does my question make sense?

Or is it ok to proove that I have sufficient funds to pay for 1 year only? Or does it HAVE to be 4 years?!

I think the total sum should be around the total cost for all years.
If at this time you don't have the whole 120.000 in a bank account, you should fill the other spaces to compensate (from parents' income, sponsor, etc).
A copy of this form goes to the US consul, and is needed for you to obtain a visa, so you must proove you have enough money (exactly for the first year, and an estimation for the others, since you'll have to renew the sums every year)

Ok, what if I have 120,000 in the bank, and I want to apply for fin.aid? In the projected support bit, can I just write how much my parents are willing to pay (ie not the whole 40k)? - even though the bank statement proves that I have sufficient funds?

Because I'm applying for finaid for 2 schools because my parents said that they will only contribute 40% of the schools' expected budgets.
Uhh and will this screw my chances for fin-aid?

You can still apply for fin aid, but the college will calculate for themselves how much you have to contribute. They will probably ask for a part from the account, but I don't think they'll suck you completely dry.

Is admission need-aware or need-blind to the schools you're applying to?

NoFx, it sounds like you don't understand US financial aid. First, the UC schools give almost no aid to internationals. Second, expect not to get aid from anywhere unless you're at the very top of the applicant pool or from an impoverished African nation. Most important of all, if your parents can afford to pay any school $40K/yr, you will get no need based aid and need to be looking for merit aid. Most very top colleges do not give merit aid. If you really want an American college, do your research and apply wisely.

actually, I think all schools (except cornell, of course) give need based fin aid to all admited students. However, they may have need aware admssion (= every extra buck you offer them increases your chances)
However, most schools will not admit you if they don't have fin aid to give you.

bobby i'm applying to 2 schools for finaid - both which offer finaid to intels. I am pretty sure I wont qualify for needbased aid.

I do not have $300,000+ (converted from USD) in 1 bank account. My parents have savings from other accounts overseas so I'd just like to show them that I can pay full 1st year tuition. Is that ok?
Or would they reject me, by looking at the bank statement and be like, 'no she cant pay all 4 years.' ?

You have to prove that you are able to pay tuition for your first year right away, and have to show that you are likely to have enough money to pay for tuition once you have to. That is, it is sufficient to show that you have $50,000 in a bank account right now and your parents are earning e.g. $200,000 a year, so that they would have another $50,000 at beginning of your Sophomore Year an so on.

"can I just write how much my parents are willing to pay"

what your parents are willing to pay has no meaning. Their unwillingness does not consititute need.

Well actually, if you offer them more than your EFC they will accept it. Also, if admission is need-aware, it WILL increase your chances.
I have an email from Brown stating this. If you don't believe me, email them yourselves.
