Finances

Can someone tell me what the average expenses per year are for a student on the Presidential Scholarship? I love the honors dorms, but the undergraduate halls that run under $3000/semester are more up my financial alley, so to speak. What other costs will be incurred? I’d like as detailed a list as possible so I can plan. Thanks!

Somewhere I remember seeing a breakdown of “projected” costs to include meal plans and other cash items – I think it was on the UA site, maybe under projected undergrad students. Will try to find when I get a chance.

[University of Alabama Estimated Undergraduate Semester Budget](http://cost.ua.edu/undergraduate-budget.html)

The budget assumes the price of the super suites dorms and a particular meal plan that is not required for upperclassmen. So, cost can drop for the later years.

Perfect, thanks…I noticed the price of housing for one semester was over $4000…isn’t that the most expensive option?! I noticed on the housing site that some dorms were available for around $2500, right?

^ Yes, I believe some dorms are available for less (a. $2,500), and many students do prefer these dorms, because doubling up in a room is more social (for obvious reasons) than opting for a private room.

You sound like such a perfect student for UA Honors…I sooooo hope it all works out for you!

Yes…the COA lists the more expensive Super Suites as an option. That’s so those who want to take a loan for housing won’t be limited to a lower COA.
