Financial Aid Abroad

Hey guys! I'm an American planning on going to college in Europe. I've figured out a plan that is very affordable, but I need some financial aid.

How can I get financial aid for studying abroad? More on that...

---Side Note---

I plan on applying directly to a European university instead of studying abroad through an American university. Most students abroad go through an American study abroad program, but I won't.

The main butt of my costs will be in living expenses (visa, housing, food, and etc.).

---Side Note---

Being that I am an American studying in a foreign country, will I be able to obtain financial aid? Preferably through an American loan company (ahem... loan shark... lol).

I know that there are study abroad loan companies, but will they be willing to loan me money being that I will not go through an American study abroad program?

Your parents might be able to take out a loan but I really doubt a company will loan you money for your European vacation (I mean study abroad).

Just to note, I actually meant to say student loans rather than financial aid.

@Erin’s Dad: Hey, I can do both (vacation and study). lol

Actually, I’ve just found a few companies that specialize in study abroad loans. It’s just that tuition there abroad is EXTREMELY LOW (thank goodness), so the main butt of my costs is in living expenses. But, in total, my expenses in living and tuition are cheaper than just tuition going to college here in America.
