So I finally got my Financial Aid award amount from UF, and with the loans it will cover almost all Tuition/fees except like $36. But my mom really doesn't want me to get any loans, and without the loans I'll have about 14,000 covered. I unfortunatly didn't get FOS, even though I was eligible for it, and was wondering is it possible to get more aid from UF. For example, the Federal supplement grant only gave me $200 per year, is it possible to get more?
Plus, I was awarded work study but I heard that it's still hard actually getting a job from it. Is that true?
Also, Me and my roomate were planning to stay in Beaty or Rawlings for the fall term. Just how much more is Beaty that Jennings (I can't seem to find the prices), or Rawlings. If the prices are different from each other.
Thanks!

WOW. Everything you said, EXACTLY applies to me. I didn’t get FOS either but I got WS and loans. Without loans I’ll be at 14,000ish, but as you said, we may not find a job. I also got $200 from that grant -_-…and I’m also going to dorm at Beaty with my friend!

Any advice guys? Should I take out loans or what?

I think that $14,000 will be more than enough for the entire year.

i can confirm that 14k is plenty. i get by with about 11k last time i checked. unless you’re paying for your cell phone and car insurance, there isn’t much reason to do more than 12k imo.

Ir2010-Thanks for the link!

aforautumn-Well, my parents are going to pay for my cell phone bills and there not letting me drive my 1st year so I won’t have any car insurance to pay either. But how much do you spend on housing/Meal, do you have a meal plan?

@AFORATAUMN- If you don’t mind me asking how to do only spend 11,000? Tuition is 5,700 and room and board is about 8,000. It seems that we’d be paying about 14,000 not including books.

They probably have Bright Futures which takes care of a good portion of the Tuition.

I have bright futures, but it isn’t enough.
aforautumn: But I am with gator27, when I add up Meal plan, Room, and Tuition it seems like it would be at least 13 thousand minimum. And if I can’t find a job for Work study, that would be a problem.

[Bump]
Well, I’m just going to appeal my aid award but does anyone know the chances of it being accepted?

Unless there was a mistake on your FAFSA, or you omitted information which would decrease your overall income and asset situation, the offer you received is the best UF will give you. If you request a review they will look at it, but not readjust the offer unless’ additional information justifies an increased financial aid package
