I suspect that in that case, you may get funds released for travel or books. They do that for study abroad in some instances.

Actually silversuz, you should get funds for lots of things. For example, the cost of one of Harvard’s weeklong pre-orientation programs (FAP, FOP, FUP, FIP) should be covered. I’ve also heard that if you’re from a warm weather climate you can get a stipend for winter outerwear (it’s called “beneficiary aid”).

FUP is actually free. Apply now if you’re interested. It fills up fast! :)

^ You can apply now? Already?

I’m a bit confused about this as well, and I’ve already tried contacting the financial aid office about it, but the person I talked to seemed a bit confused too. So, can a current student (or parent of a current student, or anyone that knows) clarify this for me?

I’m supposed to buy my own plane tickets, with my own money, right?

If I’m correct and you’re expected to contribute something to your college expenses by taking out loans or working a job, you buy your ticket from that money.

If this would cause a hardship because, for instance, you’re using your earnings to help support your family, contact the financial aid office.
