Hi, I’m new here been looking for a place where I can post questions and have people that are in college that can help me or even give me continual motivation to go to college. Nice to meet you all!
So my backstory is when I first started college in '09, I didn’t care about school… I was reckless and didn’t realize how deep of a hole I was digging for future me. Shortly after I decided to leave college and didn’t bother to drop out of my classes so I have F’s and multiple W’s from 11-12. Fast forward to 2016 I applied to financial aid with more motivation and determination then I’ve ever had before and was ecstatic to have been accepted. The first fall semester term is about to come to an end and I find out that because of my irresponsible past, My financial aid is going to be denied due to SAP for not completing 67% of the courses I’ve attempted for the spring semester. So I’m planning on writing an appeal in hopes to get my aid reinstated, How would I be able to go about my financial aid appeal? Should I talk about what has happened or will this be something they can’t help me on because it’s not emergency related?
Also my junior college has academic renewal that can wipe/erase up to 2 semesters, I’m not sure if they stay on record or if they’re truly erased but if I do that will that help raise my course completion percentage? I’m in the process of fixing my mistakes from the past by retaking the classes that I have F’s in.
any information or help is greatly appreciated ! I’m also scheduling to see a counselor so I’ll have some straight answers but I’d like an idea of where I’m at right now with this predicament, hopefully someone that’s been there can chime in, or someone that has failed to meet the SAP regardless of why it happened can help
thanks for your time!
