Financial aid appeal?

My financial aid package for Princeton was amazing, but doesn't compare so favorably to the one I got from Yale. Does the school match financial aid offers from schools of a similar caliber?

Would any other offers be automatically disregarded if I already accepted Princeton's offer of admission?

Thanks :)

Princeton should be willing to match Yale's offer. Just contact the financial aid office and show them your Yale letter...I'm pretty sure they'll up their offer to compete.

Try to be determined.

I was in the same situation, and even after meeting with someone from the financial aid officer personally, they did not match the offer from Yale.

We were in a similar situation. I called Princeton and they told me to fax a cover letter requesting a review along with a copy of the other aid offers. They matched it right away. I don't know if an acceptance would impact this or not, but would recommend going ahead.

Hmm, then should I contact their office again?

If you've already accepted their offer, then they have no reason to increase your to match Yale.

Weasel, I'm not certain that's true. I've heard of other students who were able to get increases in their aid offers even after having notified Princeton of their intention to enroll.

True, but at this stage of the process it is possible they might just look at the Yale letter and the amount involved without checking to see whether or not the student has accepted the offer to attend. It's worth a shot.

Yes - definitely contact the fin aid offices. When I went, they seemed very nice and willing to re-consider aid packages. They appear to be quite generous with funds. :)

Wow - I got back a very positive response. The parental contribution portion decreased by over 50%!!! It's still not as good as Yale's, but no complaints here anymore lol
