Should I have gotten an email saying that all of my application materials have been received, including my financial aid application (for ED)? I called the financial aid office about a week ago, and they said they hadn't finished processing applications yet, but I would like to know for sure.
Thanks!

Swarthmore’s doesn’t send out notices to say that an aid application is complete. Rather, they say they’ll let aid applicants know if more information is needed as each aid file is read. They can’t know if yours is complete until they review your file to see the particulars of your family’s situation. Not all families must complete the same aid application documents so the aid process is different from the admission process.

You can take another look at their aid application instructions to make certain that you submitted everything appropriate for your family’s situation. There are additional aid application forms when parents are not together or when a family does not live in the US or when a parent/stepparent is involved in a business. Be sure to download those special forms from Swarthmore’s aid website if they apply to you.

Then be patient and wait to hear from Swarthmore. Hard to do, of course, but waiting is a necessary part of the process.

My son got notified that they hadn’t received the financial aid documents (they crossed in the mail), so I would assume as @knowsafewthings says, no news is good news!
