I searched the forum for a thread on this but couldn't find one. I have some questions I'm hoping to get answered, maybe it will help others as well.

My parents and I are currently filling out the Financial Aid Application and there is a section called "Sources of Support" (if you are applying EA, you are probably already familiar with this). It asks to list estimated non-University resources for the first year at the University of Chicago, including parent contributions.

The thing is, how much should we fill out? I'm confused because why is UChicago asking for how much we think we can pay? Can't they just get that information from our tax forms? Will the amount we put affect my financial aid package greatly--as in, if I put too much, will I get less financial aid?

I have the same question.. because my dad is currently saying that he won't pay for ANY of my college. I think he might change his mind come spring, but for now, he insists that number is 0. What should I do?

Unalove - I already visited the site but it just discusses FAFSA, deadlines, and the CSS Profile. It doesn't mention the school's own financial aid application.

Blindkite - I'm not really sure about your situation. If your parents won't pay for anything, I suppose you should put 0.

If anyone else knows anything about the impact that this number has on an applicant's financial aid, or how the financial aid app for UChicago works in general, please feel free to respond!
