i started looking over the financial aid information... and realized that it said some of the information was due when we applied (november first). when i asked my counselor about the process she assured me that we'd only start focusing on that much later (after i was admitted). i'm beginning to freak out that maybe i missed some deadline and my poor family will have to pay a whole lotta money really soon... is this true?!?

According to the deadlines as posted by Cornell they want the Financial Aid App. is Nov. 1st. And the 2005 Tax Returns by April 15th. So, maybe you missed it, but since you've been accepted and they don't begin working on the Financial Aid papers until later you may be able to slide under the radar.

Say, does anyone know how good Cornell is on financial aid?

I've heard good from some and from other's I've heard bad. Their average grant is around 20 grand. And their average loan component is something close to 6 grand I think. And about 61% receive financial aid. So, interpret that as you will. Based on those numbers, financial aid doesn't seem bad but it also doesn't seem spectacular for such a world-renowned school.

Hmm.. interesting. Well, I will need a descent sized aid package. Hopefully they will come through for me. They say they award financial aid on demonstrated need and are need-blind, but you never can be too certain.

I need more than decent packa jacq. I know what you're going through. Just relax, they'll pull through.
