Financial aid as a transfer student?

I'm a current college junior looking to transfer to a different college this coming spring and I was wondering how financial aid works when you transfer in the middle of the year, because I already accepted federal loans at my current school to cover this spring. Basically I'm just asking what the process is, once I hear back from the schools I've applied to.

Also, would I be able to send my FAFSA to multiple schools and know before I enroll what my financial aid package would be? (I don't remember this from when I was did my FAFSA straight out of high school). I need my financial aid to cover living expenses next semester and want to make sure before I commit to a school that it will, so that I don't end up having issues.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You have to check the policies at the schools where you are interested in applying. IF you are looking for need based or merit money, your chances of getting it is nil, because the budgets have already been allocated.

I would reconsider transferring in the middle of junior year. Most schools have residency requirements you have to meet in order for you to get a degree. You could run into problems that will affect your being able to graduate next year. Check the school’s policy on this!!

Yes, your can amend your 11/12 FAFSA to add the new school codes and can cancel your spring loans at your current school.
