Financial aid at Bard

My d is interested in the creative writing program at Bard. Does anyone know whether Bard offers merit aid that is not based on need? The website says Bard offers institutional scholarships based on “need and merit.” Does that mean you have to show need to get merit? Although the NPC puts us as full pay, we’re not in the position to pay $63K/year, so I’m unsure whether it’s worth visiting.

I would suggest calling the admissions office and asking them this question directly. There may be a different calculation of need for consideration of merit awards (if the element of need is required for merit awards) than that you see when running the NPC.

Thanks; that’s a good suggestion. My husband’s income varies, so it’s also possible we would qualify for something next year. I just wouldn’t want my d to visit and get excited about it if there’s no chance we can do it.

I’m pretty sure that most of the scholarships on this campus are need based.
