Heyy, I'm debating between applying Early Decision to Cornell University or not, and the only big problem I have is with Financial Aid...

I used to the Financial Aid Calculator on the Cornell Website, and it said I would only have to pay around $2,500 with my family's income. My mother (single mother) makes around $13,000 a year, and is providing for my sister who doesn't have to pay anything for college. Would the financial aid package be any different if I applied Early Decision? If so, how much would I have to pay? Please give me an estimate! :)

We have no way of knowing how Cornell will view your financials, but FA for an ED app should not differ from one for RD. It would hurt Cornell in the long run if they started to modify ED FA offers.

Thank you so much! I certainly hope so hahah.

That 2500 per year might be a “student contribution” from summer earnings. I doubt Cornell expects a parent with such a low income to contribute anything unless she has a lot of assets.

However, does your father have any income or assets? I think Cornell requires the financial info for non-custodial parents.

Problem is, I haven’t spoken to my father in nearly 2 years. Is there any way I can NOT fill out the form for my father? Most likely my father doesn’t own or earn that much anyway.

Your dad (not you) is supposed to fill out the NCP forms.

You would have to contact Cornell and request a NCP waiver. They are not easy to get otherwise everyone would request one.

Find this out now…you need to clarification on this soon.
