Financial Aid at OU

Hey everyone,

So i've recently become interseted in attending the university of oklahoma to major in petroleum engineering. I have read many places that OU offers a pretty strong petroleum program but soon discovered that the tuition is a little high with little opportunity for lowering it. anyone have any suggestions on how to bring down the price of tuition a little so going there will be a little more reasonable? thanks in advance!

There is no way of bringing down the price of tuition. U of O is a public school and they have a fixed price based on criteria (in state vs oos). You can do something to lower your cost and that is get aid in form of grants, scholarships etc. and also work a little bit.

It looks like you are OOS and hence merit scholarships may be limited. Begin by looking at what scholarships of U of O offers and if you are eligible. If you are eligible apply for them. Look at other scholarships you may qualify for (e.g national merit). So if you can get some low cost loans (stafford). In other words, explore all options that will make it affordable. You cannot negotiate with them on the price, you can negotiate on aid based on your circumstances. Hope that helps.

Are you in high school?

What are your stats?

Does OU offer any merit scholarships for incoming freshmen?

Yes this helps mazewanderer thank you
