Financial aid at Pitt

My S was accepted at Pitt (Arts and Sciences) around Christmas time. A few days ago, he received a packet of financial aid information. No award of aid but lots of info on how to get aid. I take that to mean that he did not qwualify for either a $2,000 or $10,000 scholarship. His grades are about 3.6 GPA and 1975 on the SATs.

I would like to get some idea on what the GPA and SAT scores have been for students who have received aid. Also, have others received this information packet -- but no award.

First of all, congratulations on your son’s acceptance. If you’re referring to merit-based aid, as opposed to need-based aid, there are already a couple of threads, linked below, that should be helpful:

And also the “Official Class of 2014 Pitt Decisions Thread”:

He’s likely not in the running for a merit scholarship, but if you submit the FAFSA your son may very well qualify for need-based aid. Good luck to you both!
