Financial Aid at UIUC?

How good is it for 'in-state' students? I applied priority, and I get my decision Friday. I'm from a pretty low income family, so financial aid is going to play a huge role when choosing what college I plan to attend. Obviously, financial aid packages differ from person to person, but does UIUC meet a reasonable amount of demonstrated need? Also, since i'm low income, would that mean I'd have to pull out hefty loans? I'm in the 0-$30,000 bracket, which means at many private schools I wouldn't be given loans, just grant money, but since UIUC has 20,000+ more kids then most privates, I don't know if they're that generous. I don't think I have the GPA for merit scholarships either, and since I'm an ORM, I can't apply for the URM scholarships.

Stats:
GPA: 3.53 UW/4.12 W (10 AP classes, rest are honors)
ACT: 33 Composite (35 E 31 S 32 M 33 R)
SAT II: 780 USH 710 Math

Are there any merit scholarships I'd be eligible for with those stats at UIUC? I looked through most of them, and didn't see any, but if by any chance I missed one please let me know!

your stats may not qualify you for a sizable merit award. your need-based aid will be based on FAFSA.

You have good stats, but UIUC is very frugal about aid. I would not bet on getting any merit-based aid from UIUC. You will probably get some need-based aid, but I couldn’t tell you whether or not that will be in the form of grants or loans(which really isn’t aid i the way I think of it).

does anyone know when we get merit or financial aid offers?
