Financial Aid at Vassar, University of Richmond and Rice University

<p>I'm an Indian student and I was thinking of applying to Vassar, University of Richmond and Rice University. Are these places known to give financial aid to international students?</p>

<p>I have and they all say that they offer aid to international students. No stats though. Thats actually why I wanted an opinion…</p>

<p>What all 3 schools have in common:</p>

<p>They are not need blind to international students so the ability to pay will be a factor in admissions.</p>

<p>If you do not apply for aid as an incoming freshman, you can not get aid later</p>

<p>If accepted they will meet 100% demonstrated need.</p>

<p>In short, if you want to go to any of these schools, your best position is to be able to pay to attend, or be at the top of the applicant pool. What are your stats?</p>

<p>Since Vassar is not need blind, your ability to pay will be a factor in the admissions process. If you need a large amount of need based aid, unless you have something that puts you head and shoulders above the whole international pool of candidates, admission will be very problematic. However, if accepted the school will meet 100% of your need if admitted and you apply for financial aid at the time you apply your initial application. If you do not apply for financial aid at the beginning, you will not get it later.</p>

<p>International applicants who are not requesting need-based financial aid must prove ability to finance their education at Rice. Rice University will offer need-based financial aid to a limited number of international undergraduate applicants entering Fall 2012. Citizens of foreign countries who apply under Regular Decision and request need-based aid will be reviewed as a separate group. There is no financial aid available for international transfer applicants or international students applying under Early Decision. Rice University will be using the CSS Profile for 2012- 2013 for international students applying for aid. </p>

<p>Need-Based Aid</p>

<p>**Richmond is need-aware when reviewing admission applications from international students. However, we will meet 100% of demonstrated eligibility for all admitted students. **Need-based financial aid is offered in the form of grants, which do not have to be repaid. The average award this year was $34,460. Grant recipients will continue to receive aid in subsequent years as long as all requirements for receiving the aid are met.</p>

<p>International students who do not receive financial aid their first year will generally not be assisted in following years, unless funds permit.</p>
