Hi Scotchlite5: Most colleges want you to make a commitment one way or the other by May 1. That gives you some time to take a hard look at the different costs of your college choices. If you’ve applied elsewhere, wait until you get awards from all your different schools and figure out how much each one is REALLY going to cost you. (In other words, don’t pay attention to the loans and work-study awards on the letters.) Take the FULL Cost of Attendance (including transportation and equipment and everything else) and subtract only the FREE MONEY - the grants and scholarships. The number that’s left is what you’ll have to pay out of savings, loans or work. If you’re happy with the number and your college choice then go ahead and follow the letter’s instructions, which usually means replying and sending in a small monetary desposit. BTW, you can see how to analyze financial aid letters at [Financial Aid Letter - Letter Decoder](http://www.financialaidletter.com)

This is the school I want to go to. and I know how much it will cost.
I just want to know what to do now, what do I send back???

I don’t know about your particular school. At my daughter’s school once she was offered financial aid she could go online and accept or decline the various offers. Have you checked to see if there is an online student information system at your school where you can do this? If you cannot find anything on the college website and the letter does not have instructions (which is surprising) then call the school and ask them. Good luck.

Look through the papers again. There is probably a page that has the different parts of the aid listed, such as Stafford loan, etc. They will want to know what parts of the aid package you want to take, so there might be an empty line next to each item, so you can check it. There should be a spot for you to sign it. If you still can’t figure it out, give the Financial Aid Office a call, they will be helpful! Or if you have an assigned admissions counselor, call that person, make sure exactly what to send in: deposit, forms, roommate questionnaire, etc.

ok thank you so much for the info guys
