Financial Aid Award Posted

My daughter's financial aid award letter was just posted this afternoon. Only unsubsidized, high-interest loans for us. :(

So… Can we appeal?

Same here last year. Near the end of the FAFSA deadline this year, my son asked if I was going to submit info to FAFSA. NOPE…would just be a waste of my time.

It’s funny how my family was given more aid at U of I than at UIC…

Is this just for the FAFSA or does this letter mean I didn’t get any scholarships either?

Last week my daughter received a letter stating she had received a small scholarship. The scholarship was not reflected on the FAFSA letter.

@tonypa - What school is your daughter in?

I thought the aid/award posted was supposed to include all aid and awards? Ours indicates loans only … bummer.

Although we have not received my daughter’s award letter yet, I do know that they include everything you would be getting on it. My daughter’s boyfriend only received $4,000 in state grants (even though his dad only makes ~$50000 per year), and his President’s Honor Award and engineering scholarships were also listed. You could call to ask if this is correct or try to appeal by giving reasons why you need more, etc., but the state of Illinois is very stingy with their money these days.

Could someone please tell me where this information is posted?

@TresHijas - My daughter’s scholarship is from the Materials Science and Engineering Department within the College of Engineering. She received notification of that scholarship on March 8th.

@jhlphs - You access your financial aid information through this link. But you need to have your ID’s set up with the U of I.
