Financial Aid Awards---s'il te plait? :)

Just got loans and a work study… but it’s better than 0 money.

to bing I received
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: 3500
Federal Direct Unsub Loan: 2000
Federal Work Study: 1500
Federal Direct Parent Loan: 11680
NYS TAP GRANT: 500

So 17180 in loans…my friends were accepted into the honors program and received all loans…odd.

oh yeah, my efc was round 9000

All loans. T-T
EFC: 30k-ish
And I sort submitted my financial aid late so…not even a chance at scholarships.

I’m in the process of appealing my financial aid, as my mother just lost her job and now has to go on unemployment :(

Certainly a blessing in disguise.

I got all loans as well and my EFC is only about 6k. It’ll go down now I assume.

hmm my efc is 0 but i dont know how you guys qualified for SEOG and ACG but i didnt >.<

To all of you announcing how much you got in loans, the financial aid you get should be your business and no one else’s. Telling people about the money you received is never a good thing and it definitely is not professional.

Thanks for all the replies. Ironically, I’m going to end up going to Johns Hopkins, where I have a 29k gap that I’ll have to fill with loans, sigh. But I like the school—my parents are happy with it, and they’re paying, so… I just got keep that GPA up and get a job, haha.

BingAmbassador—just wondering… unprofessional? How so? We’re all more or less anonymous on here, unless you don’t want to be and make your info/username blatantly revealing.

I wasn’t trying to be rude I was just trying to give you a good tip for the future.

Mm. I see—Well, thank you  I didn’t really take it as rude.

It is true about the future. In most cases it’s considered tacky to ask/tell people what they/you make, and in some cases, it’s actually against company policy.

I concede that—but again, it’s an anonymous site unless you’re not careful or don’t care (where I suppose the latter case would fall under your judgments.)

Just got the result of my financial aid appeal- very relieved. For anyone whose parent has lost their job since filing the FAFSA, seriously consider appealing your package.

I tried to do that with my college… no luck. They said it’d show up on the next financial aid calculations and they would accommodate for it next year. Good thing Bing’s more understanding…
