femmefatal, you have received a wonderful package. I addressed your other questions on the finacial aid thread - is it simply your intent to try to spread panic?

Dimoret, I am sure you will be very happy at one of those other wonderful schools. I suggest you make a commitment deposit to one of them right now. There is absolutely no reason to wait another minute - certainly not for an email saying your financial aid package is ready. Best of luck.

i already apologized at the other post but here it is again. “my bad. i read that USC should send an email, but i also read that many people received good packages that reflected the amount of aid received from other schools. i guess i just pre-maturely panicked.”

@alamemom: i know that you did address the second, it’s just i have read several parents/students who have incomes of around 70k receiving poor finaid.

femmefatal, please list for me the several parents/students with incomes around 70k who have received poor financial aid. I would like to reassure all of them. Thank you.

Thank you for the positive post. We are unpaid volunteers here. We do this to help you students and parents. It is a way I can “give back” to a very special university.

I am an alumna. It is 1:30 a.m. where I live and I am up to reassure you that SC will try to be as fair as possible. All the funds you receive from the university have been donated by USC alumni, USC friends or foundations. Unfortunately, the sum budgeted is limited. The financial aid office is working hard to release these packages as soon as possible.

Let us hope your senior will have a wonderful freshman experience.

Please remember that these packages will be continuously worked on until you receive an email stating that it is finished. Don’t rush to any conclusions. A little patience works wonders! Just go outside, relax, chill out, and wait for the email. And if your parents are breathing over your shoulder about this, throw up your hands in mock exasperation and say “I can’t do anything now!”

Or something to that effect. Just chill, everything will be fine.

Georgia Girl and Alamemom, THANK YOU for all the time and energy you spend not only giving us valuable information based on your experiences and knowledge, but also for answering the same questions over and over again, AND putting up with our panic attacks! Your assistance has been a lifesaver for me and many others on this board.

And to those still questioning whether USC will be “fair” in admissions decision, program decisions, or Financial Aid, I think it is important to point out that these two women work every day to help us in this process because they LOVE USC and value the experience they have had with the school. Since they represent both the parent and student’s point of view, the information they provide is golden to me.

If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of scholarships/loans did USC offer you? All I really know of is the Stafford loan and the 2k scholarship.

I also got excellent aid! Combined with my Presidential Scholarship, USC is one of my most affordable options. And I haven’t even received an email telling me my financial aid is ready, so it still may be incomplete and they may give more.

I just want to give another big thank you to alamemom and Georgia Girl-you are both working overtime to make sure that everyone gets answers! I hope to join you in this effort someday. :)

Ditto regarding the invaluable assistance of Georgia Girl and Alamemom!!! I’m sure the Financial Aid office at USC is constantly being bombarded with calls from neurotic people such as us, and it’s good to know we can vent to our knowledgeable experts after hours!!! I’ve learned so much from these wonderful people and can’t thank them enough!!! My D just informed us last night that she’s decided to be a Trojan!! Whew!! We’re relieved since we felt USC would be the best fit for her–and especially since she was selected as a Trustee Scholar (good for our pocketbooks!!) Wow, Georgia Girl and Alamemom, we’re just SO appreciative for what you’ve done to free us from some of this college quagmire!!! Fight on!!! You’re the BEST!!!
