I’m assuming you mean $16,000.

I’m also assuming you are an instate resident of California. There are others here that are FAR more knowledgeable about the Cal Grant and Blue and Gold Opportunity programs than I am…but it would seem you would be eligible for these with your family income. They would pay your CA tuition and fees, I believe. With a $16K income per year, one would think you would be eligible for the Pell grant also (someone else will have to say whether you get this in addition to the Cal Grants…I don’t know). That maximum Pell is $5500. And then you would also get the Stafford loan of $5500 for freshman year.

I think this is correct but I’m really not all that well informed about how the federally funded aid (Pell and Stafford loans) interface with the Cal Grants so I’m hoping someone else pipes in.

yes I mean 16,000.
and no, I mean Florida resident. The two schools are Univ of Central Fl and Univ of South Fl.
thanks for the help though (:

You should have some Bright Futures money available. Have you looked into that?

If you qualify for Bright Futures, you’ll get that. Do you know if you qualify? It seems like your stats are high enough. If so, look to see what level you qualify…full or partial.

You might also qualify for a full Pell Grant which is 5550 per year.

You may also get a 5500 loan and maybe 2000 in work study.
