e my father has ~170k.
My father expects that I attend a top school — he attended Yale and comes from a long line of Ivy graduates.

Lol…don’t you just love parents who have high standards for education but will only pay $10k per year? Lol. Tell him that his “expectations” won’t pay the bills. Until he offers $$$$, his expectations should be completely ignored.

That said, apply to a couple of ivys, and apply to some schools that will give you huge merit. Maybe if dad sees that only the merit schools are affordable, he’ll pay a lot more for his “expectations”.

What’s your in-state school? NYC metro area could be NY, NJ, CT . . . it would be good to know what your in-state options are and what you don’t like about them.

You might also look into applying for competitive full tuition awards at U Maryland, Emory, and Northeastern.

Northeastern no longer offers full tuition merit, max is $30,000 for NMF.

Right…Northeastern is moving in the direction of providing need based aid only. Most of their bigger merit scholarships are no longer offered.

Northeastern actually increased their merit offerings maximum beyond NMF slightly - I suspect they rebalanced the merit from the full tuition to giving out more scholarships in volume, possibly more at half COA or so (30K). While they may transition to need only eventually, I think we’re a way from that. The only scholarship that was cut was the full tuition one, which was highly competitive to begin with.
