Financial Aid Checklist, Enroll in/Update Direct Deposit Account Information

Hey,

so thanks to some other poster, I went on my checklist and it shows up under mandatory tasks that I have to Enroll in/Update Direct Deposit Account Information? Is this really mandatory? It also says my financial aid application is complete, etc. so this is kinda confusing....To the right of things it also says "You must complete all mandatory items to receive your financial aid award(s) and disbursement."

ummm, more info please guys????

Thanks,

Peace

of course it’s mandatory, otherwise it would be labeled “optional”

AFAIK, you need a direct deposit account to actually receive your financial aid.

it’s like a wallet to hold your money

Thanks,

I feel like that was obvious too, just wanted to make sure b/c I don’t have a bank account etc. Ok, that makes sense thanks :)

So, do I need to go and sign up for it before May 1 to get priority funding or what? b/c on the finaid thing it says that a bunch of stuff is due by tomorrow. Is this one of them or what? I’ve been searching the site like crazy to find out but all they have are tutorials on how to make the account etc. and the office is closed today. I wish I would have seen this earlier.

Thanks for all the help guys!

You need to set up a bank account… you know? I think you have to go to a bank to do this but you may be able to do it online. Once you do, you will be able to go to UCSD finaid website and submit your checking account number and routing number and your set.

lol, thanks.

Nice job picking up on the “you know” thing.

Just curious still, is it due by May 1st or not?

haha, i really liked that last post, pretty funny :)

Well if it says that it is due my May 1st I wouldn’t risk completing the task any later. The penalty is… no financial aid.

So go to a bank quick and set one up or… you might be able to set one up online. <a href=“Bank of America Advantage Banking: Explore Checking Options”>Bank of America Advantage Banking: Explore Checking Options;

thanks a ton, am in the process right now haha

really though, thank you!

Your welcome. :)

I think enrollment in direct deposit is completely optional, but it is highly recommended for an easier way to receive your leftover financial aid funds. If you enroll in direct deposit, your leftover funds will be deposited into the bank account of your choice after all the tuition and fees have been paid for. If you don’t enroll in direct deposit, I think they will just send you a check, which of course is a bit of a hassle.

Cool, thanks, it was under “mandatory tasks” though so that kind of freaked me out enough to get it done haha.

Thanks all for the information I found it really helpful and you guys may have just saved my financial aid to boot!
