Financial Aid Confusion.. help!

Hello. I was just rejected from San Francisco State University, but recently received e-mails from them about the financial aid, scholarships, loans and grants that they had rewarded me. I received a few grants and loans, but I don't understand it, really. lol. Like, am I supposed to attend their school in order to take these loans out? or are they sending it to students who just applied, whether they were accepted or not? Can I still take these loans even if I was rejected? I'm really confused. Can somebody explain this to me please? Btw, there was an option asking me to put in the number of units I'd be taking at SFSU, and it said put in "0" if I'm not attending. Could this mean I could take the money out?

You can’t receive the aid if you’re not attending. But if I was you I’d call the admissions office and explain your situation. Someone has made a mistake. Either you were accidently sent a rejection, but actually you are accepted, or else you were accidently send a FA aid award. Call them as soon as you can.

No. Any aid including loans is paid direct to the school. If you are not attending nothing will be processed.

I would check to see if the rejection was a mistake.

Does SFSU usually give FA packages to rejected students? I didn’t think so, but maybe I’m wrong…

It would be funny if you went ahead and just put 15 hours…and proceeded as if you had been accepted and see what happened.

Did you get accepted to any of your other schools?

edited to add…
I misread your post…so far, you’ve only received emails about FA. Were they specific with details of an aid package or more general?

Have you received a formal aid package by regular mail?

Call the school but don’t get your hopes up. My kid was accidentally sent a financial aid award from her dream school that deferred her ED then rejected her.

Yeah, I really don’t want to get my hopes up. I’d be so happy if it turned out that they made a mistake, and I really was accepted into the school lol.

@mom2collegekids: What do you mean by specific? & No, I have not gotten anything in the mail from the school, other than that rejection letter.
