I really need financial aid for school..
My parents are divorced and I don't really have a relationship with my dad..
My mom makes like 50k a year and my dad like 100, but they have saved nothing for me for college..
I really want to go to a good school, but if I don't get financial aid, my options will be severely limited.
Also I've recently heard of guaranteed scholarships. Are there any schools with good engineering programs that offer guaranteed scholarships?
My stats are as follows:
SAT-2180 (760m,670cr,750w 8 essay)
ACT-32 (34m,34e,32cr,27sc 11essay)
Class Rank: 31/617 (and improving)

Taking 8 ap classes senior year (calBC,stat, physc, physb, chem, elit, gov, macroec)
Worked 20 hours a week at grocery store entire junior year
Worked about 50 hours or so at miscellaneous moving work

So do you think I can get financial aid?
If so, then about how much can I expect?
If not, then does anyone have an alternative?

Huckaby,

The University of Alabama may have what you’re looking for:

With your stats it appears you are guaranteed OOS tuition for four years and you are eligible for an Engineering Scholarship as well.

And $2500/yr Engineering Scholarship:

Visit Tuscaloosa and talk to them.

Other thread closed, this is the right forum for the OPs questions.

Do you know that you won’t make NMSF? What was your PSAT.

Yes…Bama would probably give you the most merit…full tuition plus 2500 per year. This is assured for your stats if you apply before the Dec 1 deadline…and the app is already online NOW.

Bama has a beautiful campus and a brand new mega-sized Science and Engineering Complex.

It can be a safety for you.

Also…if you apply and get accepted to its Computer-based Honors program, you could get more scholarship money.

Do you know what your EFC will be with your mom’s income? You need to use some calculators.

does your dad pay child support for you? Will it end when you turn 18?

Alabama sounds pretty good… Is their engineering alright?
If I went to Alabama, would I have to stay there after school?
I only got a 207 on the PSAT in Texas, so I won’t be NMSF. My dad pays 1000 a month child support for me and my sister, which will end when I’m 18.
