Financial Aid CSS

Basically I'm an English international student applying to Brown University. I'm attempting to complete my CSS Financial Aid Application, as well as my FAFSA Financial Aid application.

I've completed up to the section that asks for my Social Security Number, near the beginning. Except I'm english, and we don't have social security numbers.. we have national insurance numbers, which include alphabetical characters, whereas social security numbers do not - meaning I cannot use my national insurance number.

What do I do?

[2012-13 ED International Applicants | Financial Aid](http://www.brown.edu/about/administration/financial-aid/2012-13-ed-international-applicants)

I think you will need to contact the school to get another number to use for identification.

[International Students And Social Security Numbers](http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10181.html)

I came across that earlier but I can’t find a contact detail suitable for contacting Brown about this? Any ideas?

Also, can I change my college options after registering for the CSS?

Look on the Brown website for financial aid…there will be an email there.

You can submit your CSS Profile to any number of schools at a later date.

If you are not an American citizen or permanent resident green card holder, you can NOT complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is for the awarding of U.S. federally funded need based aid…you are not eligible for that as an international student.

Also, even IF you were eligible…the FAFSA for the 2012-2013 school year will NOT be available until January 1, 2012
