Financial Aid Disbursement

When does Bard typically disburse financial aid refunds? I am expecting funds that would cover my cost of room & board (off campus) and travel expenses. I literally have $0.48 until I receive my financial aid and can’t afford to get to campus. Someone help please!!!

If you’re a Bard student, living off campus, you’re not a freshman and it seems like asking on this site is not the quickest way to get an answer. I’m sure by now you’ve just called the Financial Aid department and asked. Also, the Bard shuttles are free…unless you’re not living on their route and need to take the public bus?

Hello opening this thread again. Does it generally take 9+ week for financial aid to be disbursed?

In response to the post above:
Yes, I am not a freshman and I do live off campus that is out of reach from the shuttle. I am posting again because the Financial Aid Office does not provide any useful information as to (1) estimated date of disbursement (2) any clarity as to why it takes so long for disbursement and (3) advice as to what students should do especially if they are dependent on their financial aid to attend Bard.

All forms and requirements have been fulfilled in advance to any deadline and I feel as if I am playing a waiting game with the department. I have a work-study position and also 2 part-time jobs all while attending as a full-time student to cover costs.

I’ve become very frustrated through my experience in contacting the FAO at Bard; they have been short, indirect and at times rude in answering any questions or concerns, and I am truly disappointed. This upcoming week will be the beginning of the 10th week of the semester. If this is the pattern of disbursement, I do not know how I will be able to continue my education at Bard.

If any one has advice or clarity on this, I’d really appreciate it. I feel hopeless at this point.

Have you tried going in to the office and speaking to them in person and explaining your plight? How about contacting the Dean of Students?

I second the above. Go in person and explain the seriousness of your situation. It’s easy to blow off an email - not so much an aggrieved human.
