Financial aid documents for Columbia?!?!

I logged on to check the status of my application, and when I clicked on "Financial Aid Document Tracking," I noticed it says, "PARENT 2007 TAX RETURN - A signed copy of the 2007 federal income tax return, including all schedule and W-2's are due in our office by March 1, 2008"! Did everyone do that already? I had no idea. Besides, don't a lot of people not have their tax return complete by March 1st?

My family accountant just did it two days ago on Friday. I'm going to mail it tomorrow.

Krstina, I am in the SAME boat, lol.

I sent all my stuff, priority mail, from Queens, on March 1, and they still haven't received it.

I got in touch with the financial aid office to tell them that my returns probably would not be ready until April...they told me to send 2006 returns for now, then the 2007 returns when available.

"Besides, don't a lot of people not have their tax return complete by March 1st?"

Depends...if you're getting a refund then you send it in ASAP. If you owe money, then you mail it April 15. :)

is columbia one of those colleges where if they don't receive your documents by the deadline, you're out of luck?

or is it like cornell...if you forget a document, they'll email you and just ask for it?

i sent everything in a while ago...but the online application status page says they haven't received it ><

does this mean i'm out of luck for financial aid?

Kristina, just send it in ASAP. idk if they'll accept it.

It just means that they have not gotten to your documents yet. Note that they probably receive thousands of documents from thousands of people, so it's not unusual to not see an update on your account.
(I sent in mine during the last week of February and didn't see an update until last Friday. So don't worry, they'll get to yours.)

I sent my FA documents sround Feb 15 and they haven't updated it yet :(

ok, thanks so much.
i'm so glad they're increasing financial aid. the incoming freshman are so lucky.

I sent in my Student non-Filer form a bit later than the rest of my forms, but my status hasn't updated and it's been a while since I sent out those forms. =/

it took about 15-ish days for them to receive the forms i sent. nickel xenon, how long has it been since you sent your forms? they have a lot of papers to look through.
