Financial Aid Eligibility Letter

I really hate to try and read the CMU status page, but mine just updated, it now says under "Financial Aid Documents Sent" documents sent:
26-mar-2010 Financial Aid Eligibility Letter

It either looks like i'm ineligible because im "rejected" or eligible, because they considered my info.

Have the same thing, and also have the same question.

While that is in fact the title of their award letter…having the message or not having it can be a sign of lots of things…so don’t get too excited if it’s there (just wait for the official materials) but also… don’t get into a panic if it’s not yet posted.

If it’s there it can be an award letter-- or there is a possibility that this is an automatic code placed on every student who has had their decision mailed this week. I hope not…but unfortunately, I don’t know any rejected students to ask to confirm and I would only cautiously say - maybe a good sign? By why torture yourself-- you’ll have to wait two more days…

If it’s not there-- it can be b/c your financial award wasn’t yet determined either b/c you didn’t submit all required documents and/or b/c they haven’t yet logged into those documents (noted in another thread-- they are still behind!).

So from the sound of things on this thread and also the FB group-- no one received any mail? Which means-- Sunday everyone with complete files will in fact see things online.

So sorry- the wait is difficult and hope it is all good news for everyone here soon.

Yeah, don’t worry if you don’t have that on your status page. They’re still reviewing financial aid applications (I haven’t sent them my parent’s income tax return or W2 forms, and there are others in the same situation).

The Carnegie Mellon Office of Admission intends for all students to receive their official notification of admission decisions and financial aid awards through the mail and not on this display. Due to this, decision and financial aid award information will not appear on this display until three days after the letters have been mailed to you. We apologize in the event that these notification letters fail to reach you before you view the data on this display. Please remember to clear the screen after viewing or printing your data. Return to the entry screen and click on ‘Clear this form’.

this is also something to keep in mind

Does anyone have this–Incomplete Carnegie Mellon Fin Aid Application — under financial aid?

The odd thing is I also have this-- Carnegie Mellon Financial Aid Application— right under it.

Financial Aid Eligibility Letter is not showing under docs sent. Received the Get Your Kilt On booklet, so we started to get our hopes up. Guess we were wrong. Submitted all of our financial aid docs early in the process, so doesn’t look good for us. CMU was in our top 3.

its not under documents sent its at the very bottom of the page under financial aid documents sent

That’s where we looked. Nothing there.

Just to add more fuel to the fire…

According to the admissions’ facebook page, a Financial Aid Eligibility Letter means that
“the applicant was either admitted or waitlisted”

But I’m not sure how much to trust a facebook page…

This is making me wish I had applied for financial aid.

@archguy: that may be true, but not getting that or seeing it on the status page does not mean rejection because some people haven’t send in all of their documents for Financial Aid yet…

So people who didn’t submit financial aid at all still have a chance even though there’s no Financial Aid letter sent?

Does anyone have this–Incomplete Carnegie Mellon Fin Aid Application — under financial aid?

The odd thing is I also have this-- Carnegie Mellon Financial Aid Application— right under it.

You’re suppose to click the button and finish the fin aid app; cmu has its own fin aid app part

Wait wait wait, we HAD to do their CMU fin aid application online? Because I have that same button on my financial aid section but it doesn’t say that my application is incompelete.

I filled out this paper copy (http://www.cmu.edu/admission/forms/10/CMU%20Financial%20Aid%20Application%2010-11.pdf</a>) and faxed it over to them. Is that alright?

oh in that case it’s fine; as long as you’ve submitted a copy. in that case, i would contact their admissions office and ask about it. chances are they just haven’t processed it, or more likely, haven’t updated your page yet. I submitted my application materials in october, but it didn’t list what i’d submitted until february

Yes but then they contradict themselves a couple of hours later and say that it doesn’t necessarily mean anything if you don’t have anything under financial aid documents snet…

Ok - so I think it goes something like this.

If you have the eligibility displaying as a sent document, then you’re either admitted or waitlisted.

If you don’t, then either:

a) the status page is isn’t up to date for you, and/or they’re still processing your documents

b) you will not be offered admission

c) you didn’t apply for fin. aid - so it’s not relevant

So, I don’t think it’s really a contradiction…

I think bimmerb0y has it exact
