Has anyone actually gotten an email from financial aid saying their package is complete?

Not I.

So don’t worry. They’re estimating my EFC to be 48k. There’s no way it’s 48k. I’m resting easy knowing that there has been no email and it’s not done loading yet.

Nevermind. I called to confirm something else and was told my package was complete. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime and I can’t take it because my parents made a lot of dumb decisions.

I haven’t received anything in the mail, or e-mail regarding financial aid. My cousin in Cali found his on the USConnect site, but mine has not been posted yet. Any clue when we should be hearing about it at the latest? It’s a huge factor into my decision between USC and Vanderbilt, and I’m getting anxious!

^ I’m in the same boat. No email, no mail… And when I check the “financial aid award” tab on USConnect, it just says it’s yet to be determined. Is this a bad sign? Have all of the awards been sent out?

canada, I am sure you were aware when you applied that International applicants are not eligible for need-based aid at USC - are you perhaps a US permanent resident?

No, I knew about the need-based aid. I was just hoping for some of the smaller merit scholarships, because I know they have some reserved for international students. Plus, I know SCA has a few scholarships too, so I wanted to know if I got any of those.

My S is a domestic applicant, met all financial aid deadlines, and has not yet received an email. When we check on the USConnect site there is a box for viewing his award, but it takes us to a page which says “access denied” and that his award has not yet been determined. There is not even a “partial” award to view. He is Pell eligible so I assume it means just what it says and we need to be patient. I do wish they would hurry though! We want to see how affordable the award is before we purchase a plane ticket for him to visit later this month.

^It is very hard to wait - returning students have to wait until July, and even though I am very familiar with the process I still get a bit nervous. ONE thing I have learned about paying for college is that, whatever the aid amount, the word “affordable” can rarely be applied. “Possible” is the description I like to use in its place: I hope the award makes it “possible” for him to attend Good luck!!!

Yes, you are so right about possible vs. affordable!

But it really isn’t possible unless we can afford it!

I am in no way arguing with you. :)

Like everyone else, we plan to compare it to the other packages he has received and weigh the pros and cons of each school. I just want to know if/when I am going to buy that plane ticket.

I got the email.

Also got the email, now if the stupid server would work I could actually view it.

^It just went back up for me. Try again. Nothing changed for me as far as awards go. I was already happy with my award, though.

Finally got in, nothing changed on my S Financial Aid package from a couple days ago. Also not listed is the $3000 grant that Viterbi offered for him to be a Research Scholar. I will wait for something in the mail before we decide how to proceed from here.

2manykids, isn’t your son’s financial aid package over $50,000?

I didn’t get an email or anything in the mail, but my award was posted over the weekend. (This is for grad school, mind you – but worth looking at the site to check.)

Alamemom, If you think I am not satisfied with his package your completely wrong. USC has been beyond generous with my son. I was only refering to the fact that even though we received an email saying our Aid was ready, it doesn’t show everything I know they have offered. Maybe they don’t list everything they have offered to us, or maybe it was an oversite, that was what I meant by we will wait to get it in the mail before we proceed. We will be part of the Trojan family in the fall!

Fight on!!!

I got the email. Nice to know that I am “officially” screwed. :)

Thanks, Mom and Dad. You sure showed the Jones’s by living above your means.

If anyone would like to make a charitable donation to fund my education, feel free to PM me. Any and all will be greatly accepted Thanks USC for being so close yet so far away!

I apologize. I am just venting
