I recently got an email pertaining to PFAA. Is this a good sign, or just a reminder?

S got one telling him he didn’t submit it. I only take it as a sign that he didn’t submit it, lol.

@planner03 : haha thats what I thought too initially. i only asked b/c of this thread:

Hey @Mathlover75, for what it’s worth, the woman who wrote the note that you cite above, did get into princeton last year…so receiving that financial aid note turned out to be a good sign indeed!

@Mathlover75 It appears as though there’s a VERY strong correlation between getting the email and getting in! I didn’t apply for financial aid because I wouldn’t qualify for it, but in hindsight perhaps I should have, and purposely leave the financial aid form blank, just so that I can get my "informal"Princeton decision sooner.

It seems most of the people who got that email got in! Should I have “forgotten” to turn in my financial aid form and seen what happened? congrats!

@planner : what are the general stats of ur son?

WAIT how can the Princeton adcom start rejecting/admitting people right now if the admissions committee doesn’t convene until December? Does this must mean some applicants get into Princeton even before committee session starts??

I think it’s a correlation =/= causation thing? That’s the only thing I can think of unless there’s some weird behind-the-scenes stuff going on.

@Ambitious19 : are u sure they dont meet until december? i would think they meet earlier for EA since 15 days seems pretty short to make all the decisions/logistics.

Well according to the Daily Princetonian:

“We’re rating and reading the files now. We haven’t gotten to committee yet — that will happen in December,” Rapelye said, referring to the stage of the process in which admission officers convene to go over applications together and to “vote on candidates.”

I got one of those emails too. It scared me because I thought I screwed up the financial aid stuff… Now I’m mildly excited after reading this thread. Only mildly though because I am trying to stay realistic.

@yebhip what are ur general stats?

Okay so it definitely appears as though some applicants get in even before committee convenes. Otherwise, why would they ask for your Financial Aid info if they were going to reject you later on??

@Ambitious19 : I’m starting to doubt it since it seems like a lot of ppl got the email, which is why im asking for their general stats to see if they had a good chance of being admitted in the first place

What was the format of your email? I’m concerned there was more than one sent based on previous threads.

@yebhip : mine read “you indicated you intend to apply for financial aid but have not yet submitted the Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA). This form is available on…” and then it goes on.
ur stats are quite impressive :)

@Mathlover75 haha thanks I did my best, so I’ll be happy with any decision.
My email reads the same! I wonder if anyone else got a different email.

@yebhip : i initially thought the email was special but now im beginning to doubt it since 3 ppl on this thread alone got it … :/

@Mathlover75 yeah we should probably keep our cool and assume nothing. But best of luck!!!
