Well the CC community is a very self-selected one- accomplished and high achieving. Things are looking pretty bright for you two! Almost EVERYONE who got an email on the previous thread @Mathlover75 linked above eventually got accepted.

Oh I don’t know…doesn’t it seem likely that a computer program just sorts the applications by those that indicated they intended to apply for FA, and those that are missing the PFAA and that the emails are auto-generated and nothing more? The FA office is just biding their time until they receive acceptances, so it makes sense that they want to have all of their ducks in a row when the time comes. They are certainly under a huge time restraint, and they are not going to want to wait until Dec 10th to realize someone has been admitted and they have no FA info on them. Just because they request your PFAA doesn’t necessarily mean they intend to do anything with it…

Plus, according to the Princetonian article that was posted on another thread, they are actually accepting EA applications right up until Dec. 1st?!

I don’t think those emails means anything. As Princeton is saying when it announces SCEA results in mid-Dec, it will also sends financial packages to those who applied for financial aids. I would say those emails just mean Financial Aids Office needs to have all information to prepare for the financial package in case Admission Office needs to send out along with acceptance notice. Acceptance decision is made by committee when they meet in Dec except certain special cases such as athlete, Questbridge, and some special cases.

On a related topic: I notice Princeton has 40/60 distribution among students who got financial aids for last three years (60% of incoming freshmen have financial aids, that means 40% are paying full price). Princeton admission is needs blind, and it is interesting that it seems this ration is hanging around 40/60…

Did anyone else receive the email? If so, what was the wording?

@yebhip same email same wording

I just got one, but it was for 2013 tax documents. I already sent in the PFAA

Well, after reading through the past threads there seems to be a very strong correlation. Not proof, and it doesn’t completely make sense, but a strong correlation nonetheless. I (unfortunately? Lol) applied for financial aid, but I got this email "Dear Dylan:

We received your 2015-16 Princeton Financial Aid Application, however, we have not yet received a copy of your parents’ 2013 tax return and W-2 Statements.

Please fax (609-258-0336) or email (pfaa@princeton.edu) a copy of these forms to our office as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Undergraduate Financial Aid

"
It probably just means what it says, but I’ll just submit the info and pretend it’s a good sign.

@18Dylan18 This is exactly what I got.

I got the tax form email too because I apparently cannot handle this whole financial aid process correctly lol

I got the email to send in missing tax info as soon as posdible

I’m interested in knowing the outcome of everyone’s decision here, especially in light of the fact that the admissions committee purports that it does not convene until December. Keep us updated!

okay guys!! to determine whether or not this email is a predictor of one’s admissions result, did anyone who DID NOT fill out the financial aid form NOT get this email? In other words, did everyone who failed to turn in financial aid info get this email?? If everyone received this email, then this email is simply a reminder. If only certain people received this email, it definitely is an indicator of admissions results.

My thoughts are if you applied for financial aid and submitted on time but left out your parents tax info /w2, did you get an email from FA recently asking for that piece of missing info. This is what happened to me. The only way this would be an indicator for likely admission would be if any other EA applicants did the same and was NOT notified that they need your tax info… Please respond …

Did you apply for FA? Did you get email… Just joined in … Lmk

@jellybean44 I did not apply for Financial Aid, but I’ve been following this discussion thoroughly!

Ok , so if you have any more info on this I would love to know because I’m completely nuts right now!! I convinced myself that I probably got in because of my email yesterday… Now I pray I’m not setting myself up for major disappointment !!

I got the same email! MY dad forgot to attach the tax form, so here’s hoping!

@jellybean44 We have yet to find someone who HASN’T received the email who requested financial aid and didn’t turn in the tax form, so right now it seems like everyone has gotten it so far. If everyone received this email, then it doesn’t mean anything and no one should get their hopes up.

<a href=“Email from FA Office - Does It Mean Anything? - #16 by cherryblossom71 - Princeton University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1475284-email-from-fa-office-does-it-mean-anything-p2.html

Californiakiwi forgot something from her FA package and she did not get an email, and looking from her posts and threads, it seems that she did not get into princeton.

idk it might be nothing. who knows?
