Sooooo have we found anyone (not international) that hasn’t gotten the email yet? I got the email and thought nothing of it until I saw this thread. Ahhh now I feel some hope that I don’t want to be false

Though it does make sense that the process would be algorithmic and be independent of admissions (financial aid is a separate department no?)

@PrincetonPls I honestly thinks that makes more sense. Plus, there was an applicant last year who got rejected despite receiving the FA email. Another thing to note is that the “correlation” seems to apply to RD only; we have no past samples to look at for SCEA (at least none that I’m aware of).

@mcfrankshc perhaps this means that we will be the sample class for this then - let’s see if there’s a correlation or not!

@PrincetonPls We’ll see how it goes on the 15th!

On a side note, I dug this up from one of the past threads about the mysterious FA email:

“I’m really sorry CCers, but I know how it feels having high hopes and getting them crushed. I definitely did not get into Princeton and I got the FA email. I am confident of my rejection because I haven’t met the requirements to the major I was applying to at PU (3 SAT 2s - one in chemistry). And, I do know they do not accept people for engineering who do not fill the necessary criteria. Sorry - but it really hurts when you think you’re going to get in and the next day, you see a rejection letter on your kitchen table. I wish you guys all the best - may you get into the college of your choice!”

I’ve so far only finished browsing one of the past threads, but it’s clear to me that the connection between acceptance and the FA email is quite tenuous (I’ve noted three applicants who received an FA email but still got rejected).

Maybe I’m only telling myself this because I did not receive an FA email, so I could be biased. But at this point, there is absolutely nothing we can do to sway the decisions in our favour. We can only wait and see.

well @mcfrankshc, the person you quoted got a different version of the FA letter. On the thread, you notice one states " Name: XXX
Address

Dear XXX:

We see you have indicated that you intend to apply for financial aid. We are writing to let you know that information needed to complete your aid application is still missing.

We have not received the Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA). You can complete the on-line application through the Web at Princeton University | Apply for Financial Aid. If you do not have computer access, you can call our office to request a paper version of the form. Note: if you completed a CSS/PROFILE application, you must still submit the PFAA. You can use your PROFILE information as part of your PFAA if you wish by including your CSS Id number on the first page of the on-line form. If you think you have already completed your PFAA, make sure it has been submitted and not just saved. Log in, and if your application is still available for update, click on the ‘send’ button.

If you originally planned to apply for aid and have since decided not to, we would appreciate a call so we can change our records.

We hope to hear from you within the next few days. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or difficulty providing the requested information.

Sincerely,
Catherine L. Beach
Assistant Director"

And then the other one said this…which is also the one the person you quoted received

"We understand from the Admission Office that when you applied for admission, you indicated an interest in applying for financial aid. We are writing to let you know that we have not yet received a Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA) associated with the above e-mail address. However, if you submitted the PFAA with a different e-mail, you can disregard this message.

In the event you have not completed the form, you may still apply for financial aid. Information about the application process and access to the on-line application can be found at this link Princeton University | Apply for Financial Aid .

It is not necessary to reply to this e-mail if you have decided you will not apply for aid.

Thank you,

The Undergraduate Financial Aid Office

Princeton University"

Did anyone else receive a reply email today from the financial aid office? It just said they will add my tax return/W-2 forms to their files. Also, a little strange since I sent them the files on Nov. 27th… only getting a reply now. Did anyone else get this confirmation?

@PrincetonBoyy I didn’t get one yet…freaking out!!!

I faxed mine in so I don’t think I would get an email response back. I did get the initial email informing me that I hadn’t sent in the tax forms though.

i sent mine around the 29th

I didn’t get the confirmation either and I sent mine the day they sent the first email… :(

@ladybug97 : does that mean we were “eliminated” ?

I hope not…

Ugh a week is such a long time and now I am doubly nervous, which I didn’t even think was possible.

@PrincetonBoyy : what are ur stats?

Oh boy I’m getting nervous now - I didn’t get the email reply either! Can anyone else comment on whether they got the follow up email or not?

@PrincetonPls When did u send the form?

@RunningForLife — December 2nd… Not sure what to make of this. My name is also near the end of the alphabet.

@PrincetonPls Sigh…

@Jumbotron @yebhip did u guys get one?
