financial aid email

did anybody else get a financial aid email like this?

We are excited that you have applied to Rice University and wanted to let you know that it is not too late to apply for financial aid!

While the admission committee is busy reading your application for admission, the Office of Financial Aid is eager to identify families that will need some help with funding their child’s education. In order to be considered for need-based financial aid, you must complete the following application requirements:

2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

2009-2010 CSS Profile (:: College Planning Made Easy | Inside Source for College Admissions Requirements)

Submit signed copies of your 2008 federal income tax forms to The College Board via IDOC (<a href="https://idoc.collegeboard.com%5B/url%5D">https://idoc.collegeboard.com</a>)</p>

If you have not completed the above application requirements, please do so as soon as possible. We look forward to including a financial aid notification along with your admission decision!

Please direct any inquiries regarding your financial aid to fina@rice.edu.
With best wishes,
Heather Domeier

does this mean anything or hint anything?! or is it just generic?

I think it is a generic e-mail thats just telling you to get everything in. I personally didn't recieve this e-mail but thats probably because I sent everything in way before the deadline.

Yeah, it means that you didn't apply for financial aid.

hm, i've sent all my stuff already though

my daughter also got this financial aid email....we have all documents turned in as well.....I was hoping this was directed to admitted students to make sure all paperwork was in.....

And my son got it as well, towards the end of January, I think. His also arrived after we sent in all of his financial aid documents -- FAFSA, CSS, IDOC, the whole bit.

He got similar letters and emails from other schools, also after turning in all of his stuff.

I really think it's just their (computerized) way of reminding everybody to get their stuff in so that all applicants can be considered for all scholarships and other financial aid IF and/or when the time comes.

We received this email as well, even though all items had been submitted. I contacted Rice's financial aid folks yesterday and they had not yet received access to the IDOC materials. IDOC processing was a little slower than normal - but as of today the materials are now accessible by Rice.

Perhaps you should double check with Financial Aid just to be sure nothing went missing.

I got an email just like everyone elses on March 9 2009. Dont they send the email out to stuents who have been accepted and are prompting them to turn in all there financial aid in order to recieve a financial aid notification along with their admission decision?

^that's what i'd think.

i didn't get one. but i submitted mine exactly on March 1st so yeah?

I don't think I got one of those.... I don't plan on applying for financial aid, but I'm fairly sure I checked I was going to on the Common App. I'm nervous now. >>

1) i did not get this email. (2) i did not apply for fin aid (3) rice is need blind, so I don't believe their common app takes whether or not you are applying for fin aid (even if generic common app gets this data from you). Based on these, I would think getting fin aid reminder is a good sign. They are touching their admitted pool.

You shouldn't make that assumption; I was deferred ED from Harvey Mudd days after getting e-mail from them to submit my CSS:Profile.

totally agree with Cider on this. Don't sweat it. Your probably just missing forms so check it out

CIDER. that was probably why you was defered from Harvey Mudd. you needed to submit your css profile days before they made there decision. But we arnt talking about days here. we are talking aout two-three weeks here. For those of us that got the email. could you pease tell us your g.p.a and extracurricular activities please, so that we can compare.

A school that is need-blind is not going to defer someone because they don't have everything in for financial aid. I called them and they told me that having it in late did not affect the decision whatsoever. They told me exactly why I was deferred. No college will let something like that slip so easily; to assume so is to assume that the people at admissions and financial aid aren't smart enough to know this, and to assume so is silly.

funny thing is i happen to know heath domeier's (the person who sent the financial aid email) daughter because we go to the same school, and i told her daughter i got an email from her mom and i said "i dont think it was important, probably a generic email" and she asked her mom and her mom said it was "special and very important"

heather domeier****

and i said i decided to go to university of texas she said i should've waited "until april 1st, maybe earlier like march 23rd"
well idk if there's any innuendoes in that...

wow!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS. YOU KNEW HER DAUGHTER THE WHOLE TIME!! SO, THERE'S A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT THE EMAIL THAT WAS SENT TO US MEANS THAT WE HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED. DID YOU GET ANY OTHER INFORMATION FROM HER DAUGHTER OR HER MOTHER? i WOULD REALY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU SHARE IT WITH ME. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME HOPE AT LEAST!!!
