financial aid email

well i didn't want to mention this last part to give any false hope haha
that's all she told me so idk
i think it's a good sign

you can't read that much into it yet, or at least you're not supposed to

So do you think it means that if you didn't get that financial aid email from "Heather", you are NOT getting into Rice? My S applied for financial aid and all fin aid documents have been in since early February and no fin aid email from Rice as of today. Short stats are SAT: 2390; ACT: 36; 3 SAT Subject Tests: 800,800,790; AP's all 5's; Great Leadership EC's in sports, music and clubs; decent amount of community service; good essays, at least I thought they were . . .

like i said, i don't think we should look into it that much.

Oh, for crying out loud! DO NOT WORRY IF YOU DID NOT GET THIS EMAIL. Really. Please, everyone relax and don't read anything into this. The time to get all emotional is when you get "approved" for admittance or not. Schools ask for financial aid info from kids they do not accept. And schools do not ask for more financial aid data from students they do accept, if they have all the info they need. Please do not drive yourself even more wild reading into this stuff.

I got a likely letter and did not get this email...it's not that big of a deal.

josephql stop spreading false info. look at acolombianp28.... he got a likely and didnt get the email....

i didn't spread anything! burn me at the stake for including a personal anecdote jeeez. i said don't look into it.

I'm calling BS on this story. It just doesn't have the ring of truth.
"special and very important" just does not sound like the language an administrator would use in describing that type of email.

While the email may actually be special and very important and mean that you're in...by no stretch of imagination are you not in if you did not get it...

Also, before people begin hypothesizing that the reason I did not get the email was because I did not apply for financial aid...let me just say straight out, I did apply for financial aid.

I was also invited to Visions, where they explicitly said that they wouldn't be paying for us to visit unless they could guarantee we would be admitted...they gave us a 98% chance of admission, 2% accounting for anyone who may do something ridiculously dumb senior year (e.g. jail, suspension, etc.)

so im guessing its just for missing forms..... because if they didnt send you one acolombian they probably received all your FAFSA/CSS/PROFILE/IDOC forms

i got the email, but i don't think it's anything big.

just let it go and take a deep breath. if u think it's something important, just call the admissions/financial aid offiice and ask if thier missing any of your papers. problem solved.

well story isn't BS, it's true i really am friends with her daughter and she did tell her daughter that. i'm done with this thread

This e-mail may be for students who will probably be accepted or it may not. I really don't think you should freak out if you don't get one. Seriously some people need to just chill. btw i got invited to Visions and got a likely letter, and NO E-MAIL. if that makes anyone feel better.

It's generic

dunno if it's generic.

i didn't get one.

it might be a good sign for the rest of you? and a bad sign for me?

STOP READING INTO IT! Everyone here enjoys freaking out or something.

^I KNOW! You guys you'll find out in two weeks! Or less!

Think of this as the SAT reading section! You can't over-analyze it!

hahaha ^^ good metaphor, Modulation

A key part of this FinAid email was the phrase, "Please direct any inquiries regarding your financial aid to fina@rice.edu." Just ask them why you get the email.

Give josephql a break - his friend's mom's message was personally for him, not for everyone that got the email.
