Has anyone not gotten their financial aid?

Do they think of me as an international student? I don't think so. But then I don't know what I am suposed to do for tax next year.

Vagan- same here. my parents are in korea and i have my green card too. but least you are getting federal funds. I'm not getting anything and i lived here for good 10 years.. ***. And if you are a permenant resident, i dont think they consider you as an international student.

oh. I am just wondering... how do your parents show their taxes from korea? I am going to be in your situation starting from next year. so help?

right. just be happy you all got such great loans. me?

Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan $2,625

that's it. that's right.

and there's still 2 lil brothers to send to college, even though I do live in a more fortunate community.

-_- crap.

I swear, the only thing great about being poor is being qualify to take huge grants.

krisiitina- if your 2 lil brothers enter school, they are bound to take that into consideration (they ask you how many dependents they have and how many are going to college) so don't worry too much yet.

vagan-from the Tax return form..:
wages, salaries, tips, etc : 38K
other income. list type and amout : foreign income tax exclusion is: -38K
Add the amounts, this is your total income: 0 (LOL!)

So technically, its written like they make nothing. (its counted as foreign income tax exclusion...) so... technically no tax to US (we pay it to Korean government because its where they made the money in the first place)

Which is bad, because that means you'll likely lose pell grant like me and possibly cal grant. I don't know about that though... You might want to get a job, and pay the tax, to keep yourself as a tax paying citizen...

i thought that they already KNOW i have 2 younger brothersadfjdsafkljsadf

WHYYYY ah. i'm seriously really worried. almost thinking of not going there...when it's my DREAM school. i hate money.

They know you have two brothers, but they are not in colleges yet, right? They take their college education (and how much it costs) into consideration when they redo financial aid again. It really only matters if they have a sibling who's an undergrad at college, i'm guessing.

when i graduate high school, one will graduate middle school, and one will graduate elementary school.

we will never be in college at the same time....and I"m the oldest.

Well, then what's the problem? How much is EFC and your parent's yearly wage?

i'm just worried because even though my parents wont be paying for 2 kids' tuition at once, my tuition is still gonna drain the account (you know, just a lil bit).

it's okay. we got it figured out. parents will pay 35K, I pay about 12K. the fact of getting more loans (can i still ask usc for an increase in a loan? will they give it to me?) and scholarships is another story...

krisiitina.... my parents will be paying for THREE at once! (i have a twin, and a brother two years older)... and they already sent one kid through colllege OOS.

holy crap.

where's your TWIN going?!!

kudos to your parents--lots of aid i presume?

my twin is going to Chico, so luckily thats not too expensive.

absolutely no aid... the most we can get is a $2625 stafford loan. luckily, I got the dean's scholarship, so that helps out a bit, and i applied for several other scholarships.. but still, looks like i'll be workin a lot this summer! haha : ) but yeah i definitely feel your pain.

OOOH holy crap. Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan $2,625 does suck alot...

sarahjhansen-OOH good luck with that. I hope your parents can handle all that...

i'm lucky. they love me.. haha.
but yeah. USC shows no love for the middle class!
oh well, i still love it.... FIGHT ON.

Like i said.. the only time i'm glad to be poor. ^_^;;

sarahjhansen:

They are giving you no finaid?? Wow... :/

i know, DANG, huh? and you know whats REALLY messed up about it?
my parents were like : Well, hun, your grandparents ARE getting pretty old. Maybe we'll be receiving the inheritance money soon!!

my family is so screwed up... : )

sarahjhanse- HAHAHAHAH LOL as sad as that is, its soo funny. I hope your parents were kidding though, LOL.
