Ahoy, I got a likely letter last week, and the more I research Brown the more I’m falling in love with its everything–more than before! Now, my parents make, together, around 31,000, how much should I expect Brown to help me, financially? My parents can’s pay for anything…
Thank you!

do this with your parents since its about more than just income and you probably don’t know all the aspects of your parents’ finances: [Brown’s Financial Aid Calculator | Financial Aid](http://www.brown.edu/about/administration/financial-aid/browns-financial-aid-calculator)

Do the financial aid calculator, I found it to be very accurate. Most likely they will expect no parental contribution, and around $5k from you, earned through work study and summer employment. Also keep in mind there are ways to lower some of the expenses. Brown estimates around $1300 yr for books, $1900 personal expenses, $800 for travel. Our expenses were much lower. It also seems fairly easy to get a campus work study job. Best of luck to you.

Just speaking towards on-campus jobs: they’re extremely easy to get. The biggest employer on-campus is BuDS (Brown Dining Services), which offers positions that can fit basically any schedule. The only requirement is that you work at least 8 hours a week, which isn’t that much.
