the website indicates that there is rarely financial aid for waitlist acceptances. does anyone know if this is always the case? if there's no hope of any aid, then cannot do waitlist. if there is hope of aid, then it's possible.

“Rarely” means it’s possible; why NOT accept a waitlist spot?

It is my understanding that Reed’s Financial Aid covers the ‘demonstrated financial need’ of all admitted students, no matter if it was EA, RD, or waitlist acceptances. I haven’t come across anything indicating that students admitted from the waitlist are a different class of students exempt from Reed’s FA policies…

However, it may be more difficult to get off the waitlist if you need tons of financial aid… like if they were unable to meet 100% of your ‘need’, then they wouldn’t accept you in the first place.

But as vonlost pointed how, it doesn’t hurt to try.
