Financial Aid for Admission?

Financial does not affect your chances at a UC right? This came up in the San Diego sub forum. I believe I was misinformed and I want to make sure.

I saw something like this in the chances thread.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/449605-how-much-does-not-applying-financial-aid-change-admissions-chances.html

I believe it only applies to “need blind schools” or something.

?

It should affect you in any matter or way. You just decided to pay to pay 23000 from your own pocket. Still highly recommend you sign up though you still get book aid or something

^What?

“It should affect you in any matter or way” Is it should NOT? “You just decided to pay to pay 23000 from your own pocket.”

?

I don’t understand what you are saying?

bump. Just need some confirmation to be 100% sure.

my bad I meant shouldn’t affect.

Actually, being poor and applying for finaid can be a plus factor. While, finaid and admissions are completely separate, UC’s give bonus points to low income kids…

I think that’s ivy league, being poor doesn’t help UC admission much, right…?

Being economically disadvantaged can give a slight points boost. But it’s negligible and not applying for Financial Aid, albeit stupid, will not hurt you.
