Hello everyone! Does Stanford offer financial aid for Admit Weekend (like paying for people’s flights)? If so, does this extend to international students?
My dd did get some $ for travel to Admit Weekend. I think it was about $350 to be used for a flight or to reimburse for gas to drive. We had to submit paperwork showing the distance of the drive and there was a cap on the total. I don’t know what they do for international students.
U gotta be kidding me…
@pacnwmomof2 Thank you. Did you have to ask for this on your own initiative or was it an automatic scheme? If the latter, when did they inform you of this reimbursement plan?
@GMTplus7 Did I say something wrong?
She didn’t ask for it and it was totally unexpected. It’s based on your FA need. She got either an email or a regular letter saying she’d been granted a travel allowance for Admit Weekend. She filled out some paperwork and they sent her a check after the weekend to cover some of the cost of the visit. I don’t remember the timing of when she received the notification, but it was before we’d made any definite plans, so it must have been fairly soon after she was admitted.
That said, I would be surprised if Stanford will give you enough $$$ to cover the cost of an international flight. There are just too many international students and the cost would be pretty high, but maybe I’m wrong.
Thank you very much @pacnwmomof2. You’ve been incredibly helpful!
