Financial Aid for Canadians Studying in the US

I’m currently a Canadian high school student planning on studying for undergraduate in the States, and I was wondering about financial aid for Canadian students studying in the US? I know some schools like UChicago and UPenn are need-blind towards Canadian applicants and I was wondering if any other universities had similar policies? Alternatively, does anyone know about any scholarships available or which universities are generous with financial aid for international applicants? I intend to go into the liberal arts and am applying for a mixture of liberal arts colleges and private research universities.

@emsyem

I’m usually very willing to help…but you know…there are about 3000 colleges in this country with varying policies regarding financial aid for international students…and that includes Canandian students.

Really…your best bet is to check websites for colleges of interest to you.

ETA…being need blind means the school does not consider your ability to pay when reviewing your application for admission. This has NOTHING to do with financial aid. Are you looking for schools that are need blind for admissions AND guarantee to meet full need for all admitted Canadian students?

Many schools are need blind toward all applicants, but don’t provide a lot of school based financial aid. Students at those school rely heavily on federal loans, grants, merit scholarships, etc. There are a few schools that are need blind for all applicants, including international students, and also give very good need based aid (Princeton, Harvard, Amherst), but they are also the hardest to get into.

You have to check each school you are interested in whether their merit or financial aid is available to international students.
