Hi, I’m currently enrolled in Fall 2018 classes. I go to Community College in NY. I Filled out my FAFSA 2018-2019 on July, 11 2018. I noticed on my Financial Aid Reward that I’m only receiving aid for Spring 2019. I’m have TAP and PELL for Spring 2019. I’m currently undergraduate student. I did apply for ASAP. EFC is 000000
Update: I have TAP for FALL 2018 ( a day later after i apply for classes)
Why am i not receiving Pell for Fall 2018…? I don’t understand. I went to my Financial Aid office many times, lady at the front desk said to wait a few days…
Can someone help me with this?
You filed late. Pell is an entitlement, you will get it, you just have t wait, you will most likely have to go through verification. This is why it is important to apply early and meet the recommended deadlines
@reachstyles
For the next academic year…2019-2020…the FAFSA will become available to complete and file on October 1, 2018. It will use 2017 tax year information. I would strongly suggest that you complete that FAFSA for NEXT academic year as close to October 1 as possible. That way…you will have plenty of time to solve any issues before classes start.
Completing a FAFSA in July for college starting two months later is cutting it very close. As noted…you will get your money if you are entitled to it…but you may have to wait.
Does FAFSA still have to go through verification if it says Congratulations, your FAFSA was processed successfully.?
Okay, Will do @thumper1
Your FAFSA can be oocessed, but then your college could select you for verification if they see something that doesn’t align correctly.
Some colleges verify a certain %age of applicants.
With a 000 EFC, you ate most likely going to go through verification. The will want to see how you meet your day to day expenses. In the verification process you will have to submit your parent 2016 Tax transcript from the IRS. If your family is not required to file taxes then you will need to submit the non -filers statement from the irs. It could take 2-4 weeksto getthesedocuments from the IRS. I’f your family receives food stamps or cash assistance then you must get a budget letter from Hynan Resources administration. If your parents are retired or disabled and receiving SS benefits then your parents must get a copy of the award letter from SSA
Update: I got PELL for Fall 2018 now
