Financial Aid for Graduate Programs

Does anyone know about funding, or scholarships for graduate programs. D has been accepted to Columbia, BU, GW, Pitt, Northwestern, NYU, and Univ Of Maryland for their graduate programs. We haven't heard about funding or aid yet from any of these schools. Any ideas of if/when we will hear?

Any parents or graduate students out there? Will she get a financial packet like she did for undergraduate?

PhD programs that are worth attending are fully funded (tuition + stipend). The funding info should get to you with official acceptance letter.

Masters programs are often not funded at all.

May I suggest that you visit this part of the CC forum for some answers to your financial aid questions-

My S is in a Ph.D. program and he is fully funded, meaning he does not pay tuition out of his own pocket, plus he was given a living stipend.

Funding varies with discipline and with the university. The sciences in particular tend to be very well funded – particularly at the doctoral level.
