Financial Aid for international applicants.

Hello guys

I’m an Indian student so I have to apply for Financial aid. Is it true that at the Ivy League institutioin, an international kid applying for FA gets his chances reduced at admission?

You can use SEARCH and see this type of question come up again and again in the Financial Aid forum and the International student forum.

There are only 6 colleges that are ‘need blind’ for internationals, meaning they don’t consider it if you apply for aid and ‘meet full need’ which means they will give you funds they calculate you need to attend. The chances are just the same for all international students (low): Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Amherst, Princeton, MIT

For other Ivies and private colleges, your financial need will be considered. This doesn’t mean your chances are reduced necessarily. If you are amazing, they may be happy to extend the offer with aid. Some student are going to get accepted no matter what. Others will get accepted as funds allow, so they may have to take a full payer over someone who needs aid, even though they will have some aid to give it isn’t unlimited. For most public universities, they will just admit you and give you the bill and you will have to decline if you can’t afford it.
