I heard that University of Chicago is kind of stingy to international students. Can you tell me the approximate number of international students who get admited with satisfactory financial aid each year?

"Chicago offers financial support to a number of its most highly qualified international applicants who have demonstrated financial need. In most cases, if you apply for financial aid and you are offered admission to Chicago, you will receive a financial award that meets your full demonstrated need. In the last three years, Chicago has offered a total of $1.7 million dollars to 43 needy students around the world who have demonstrated unusual academic and extracurricular excellence."

I took this from http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/level3.asp?id=296 .
Yes, I too heard that U Chicago and JHU are very stingy in matters concerning fin aid. However, I got into both with very good financial aid. My best advice is try and do your best. They can be risky schools, but if you think they fit you, go ahead. Cheers!

Keep in mind that they offer NO aid to international tranfsers :(

puritania, are you an intel?

They give out some really great scholarships. I was considered an international student for admissions purposes and they gave me a full ride. I know that they give international students who they admit all of the financial aid they need. Pretty generous once you're in.

yeah, I'm an intel from Romania. :)

By the way, I am an UWC student. Will I be given any priority and are there many students in unichicago from UWC schools.

Wow, puritania and divanny, mind posting your stats? =)

I think mine are around somewhere, probably on the RD decision thread. However, you can send me a message on aim/yahoo if you want more details or are too lazy to look for them. :p

Heh, I found it on the Princeton thread. You have like a bazillion leadership posts. I have 2. And only school-based. Crap. =(
