G'day.

Is it true that if you're an international and you apply for Financial Aid, you are decreasing your chances for acceptance?

By the way, I am an international.

Thanks guys ..

harvard's financial policy says if a student's family income is less than $60,000 a year, they will need to pay $0 to the student's finances. harvard will meet 100% financial need of every student it admits, regardless of citizenship.

these same rules apply to princeton, yale and MIT. there could be more colleges but for these ones im sure they have the same policy.

williams college too, except when it comes to transfers

Harvard is one of the very few schools that are need-blind for ALL applicants, including international students and illegal residents of the United States.

Most other schools have need-blind admissions for US Citizens and Permanent Residents, but probably have need-aware admissions for Internationals and illegal residents.

What is need-blind or need-aware?

Can some one answer my original queston: Does applying for financial aid when you're an international decrease your chances?

no. need blind means your financial aid will not affect your decision.
