Financial aid for Irish student.

<p>Hello,
I am in my final year of secondary school in Ireland. I have yet to take my final exams which are known as the leaving cert. I have taken the junior cert and my grades are as follows..( H for higher and O for ordinary level)
English: C H
French : A O
Maths:A O
Irish:A O
Geography: B H
History:B H
Music:B H
C.S.P.E: B Common level, no Higher or ordinary.
Business: B H
Science: A O
These are my end of year state exam results. The school gives other small exams but these are not required for admission to college here.
For my leaving cert i will only need to take 6 subjects.
I've yet to sit these exams that will take place in June.. I will be reciving results in mid august.
How would I go about applying to colleges in the U.S.A and will I be able to recieve Financial Aid ? If so can I expect to pay nothing? My parents earn approximitley 50.000 euro. Approx 66,000 USD. p/a.
Are there any colleges that are renound for there financial aid for international studetns ?
Also would I have to take the SATs or any other exams, if so how would i got about doing this.</p>

<p>The single best source of information for you is your closest office of EducationUSA. There is one in Dublin [EducationUSA</a> - Center Profile - The Fulbright Commission - Ireland](<a href=“http://www.educationusa.info/Fulbright-Ireland]EducationUSA”>http://www.educationusa.info/Fulbright-Ireland) If you can’t visit in person, they should be able to give you some advice by email or over the phone. Read through the general website first [EducationUSA</a> - Find an Advising Center](<a href=“http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php]EducationUSA”>http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php) then contact that office for help with your specific situation.</p>

<p>There is very little chance you would pay nothing.</p>

<p>Financial aid tor international students is very limited, and normally goes to very top students.</p>

<p>Most US students don’t get the financial aid that they need. Int’l students have a much, much harder time. </p>

<p>American colleges don’t have enough money to give aid to everyone who needs/wants it.</p>

<p>You can find information on SAT testing on collegeboard.com. There is an international student forum here on CC as well, which may be helpful in figuring out the whole US college application system.</p>

<p>Make sure you apply to schools in Ireland as well…good luck!</p>

<p>Our economy is in the toilet right now. Many colleges take international students as full pay students to help the balance sheets. There are always exceptions (do you happen to have an Olympic Gold metal in a collegiate sport?), but not many. </p>

<p>Contact your government and see if they’ll pay . . . also check out Kwanis and Rotary and see if there are programs that might bring you here for a semester. </p>

<p>Please know that the US system is different than many other countries. It is typical for a college to cost a student/family $20,000 a year – and private colleges can be $50,000 a year. Most European university costs are significantly less. </p>

<p>Sometimes Internationals do better at the graduate school level. Sorry to be so glum, but these are the realities right now. (And I think you want the word “renowned”??)</p>
