Financial Aid for non-traditional student

Hi! I am 28 years old and am going back to school part time to finish my bachelor's degree. I have a 4.0 college GPA, but have been out of school for a few years now, after attending off-and-on during my early 20's. I am wondering if anyone has information on how a student who is a little older can find financial aid and scholarships. I am having a hard time and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Are you going to be attending a traditional program or in a program designed for working adults?

Your closest community college and public university have seen your situation a bazillion times before. Make an appointment with their financial aid offices to discuss your personal situation, and get some direction on where to go.

Are there any programs in your area that are specifically for non-traditional age students? Two that I know of are the McBride Scholars program at Bryn Mawr College, and the weekend college at Trinity University (Washington, DC). There has to be something in Massachusetts! Maybe at Simmons?

All the best.

You could look for them online. there are many scholarships on websites for adults and those who are returning to school.

I went back to school and had to write an essay about how I grew up and used the years without school. It asked how you changed treating people throughout the years. And I wrote about how when I was young I would hit on other women's boyfriends to try and make myself feel better, but expressed how I became independent and accepted myself through working. You could write about that if that applies to you, or maybe it doesnt. Hm...
